A graduate of HEAD’s Workmaster programme, Victor Delétraz […] develops performances that tackle political and poetic questions around the concepts of failure, instability, consumerism, and our relationships with communities. Alone on stage and using spectacular artifacts like fire, foam, or smoke, Victor explores reflections on our shared destiny, marked by fragility and failure. His visual and performative work has been showcased primarily in independent art spaces across Switzerland such as Zabriskie, Soul2Soul RU, Topic, Espace 3353, and at exhibitions at La Becque and the BIG. He has also participated in events like the Spielact festival, as well as exhibitions in Bordeaux at the CAPC, in Sofia, and Athens. Currently, he is interested in moving from the context of gallery performances, often marked by spontaneous gestures and a certain urgency, toward the longer timeframe of live arts to develop collaborative and larger-scale projects.

The artist, who is spending three months in residence in Basel as part of a bilateral partnership with L’Abri-Geneva, presents an exhibition that takes a critical look at our society and consumption habits. Through improvised and seemingly innocuous artistic actions, gestures and processes, the artist reminds us of our own shortcomings: “wasted mousse trial” combines simple magic, smoke, low-quality images, objects concealed behind wooden panels and a soundtrack at 190 beats per minute.

Un corps du présent, un corps du passé. Un corps en devenir, maintenant. Montré maintenant.
Atmosphère vide. Musique et lumière pour la fête. Lâcher-prise total.
Carton fragile, peau de plastique gonflée fragile, peau humaine fragile, exposée à la violence.
Des questions infra-existentielles, auxquelles la réponse est : prenez soin de votre jardin et de vos luttes politiques.
