Jeanne Dufour

Accompanied by Didi, her low-frequency emotions box, Jeanne dreams of criss-crossing the roads in a truck. But to do that, she’d first have to pass her driving test. So, in the meantime, she twists and distorts fragments of everyday sounds to create pockets of fleeting utopias deep within cellars. With every new performance, she takes care to listen to what the walls have to say and measures their resonances using DIY scientific tools. Thanks to L’Abri, she hopes to see the light of day and reconnect with her years of booty therapy by blending noise and reggaeton during festive and cathartic ceremonies.

Jeanne Dufour is a sound artist, performer and photographer. After spending her childhood in the countryside of the PACA region, she moved first to Paris and then to Montreal, where she developed a practice in analogue photography as an archive of memories and sensory experiences.

Having graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design from the HEAD - Geneva in 2025, she quickly placed the body at the heart of her practice. Performance became a space where emotion, presence and lived experience took precedence over discourse.

During her bachelor’s degree, she built a subwoofer, which became the starting point for her sound and theoretical research into low frequencies as a means of bringing people together. Inspired by the culture of free parties, which she sees as spaces for social experimentation, autonomy and resistance, she explores the physiological, sensory and political effects of low frequencies on the body. Her work examines how sound can generate forms of community and give rise to concrete, collective and ephemeral utopias.

In parallel, she developed SETT, a harsh noise project based on the No Input approach. By pushing the sounds of mixing desks to their limits using field recordings — parties, demonstrations, brass bands, organs or fragments of everyday life — she composes soundscapes where memory, saturation and physical intensity converge.

Through photography, performance and sound, Jeanne Dufour is interested in forms of collective memory, states of presence and spaces where vibrations transform bodies just as much as they forge connections. Her work seeks to turn sensory experience into a space for meeting people, resistance and sharing.

She performs across Europe and in Mexico, both solo and as part of collaborations such as CRACHE, Rodrigo Ambriz, Anapura and other projects born out of international artistic encounters.
