Emma Perez
Emma rummages through bone marrow and the Earth’s crust. A laboratory technician who is always on the move, she collects limestone dust, fragments of landscapes and memories embedded beneath our skin. With a piece of chalk as her talisman, she traces vanishing lines and maps porous areas to bring their vibrations to the surface. From L’Abri, she’s determined to smash the 10,000-steps-a-day target and avoid the tentacles of the administrative kraken and marketing strategies.
Emma Perez is a multidisciplinary artist based in Geneva, an active dancer, performance artist and illustrator. Having graduated in contemporary dance from La Manufacture in Lausanne, she continued her training at the LungA School in Iceland, an experience that fuelled her interest in co-creative approaches and field studies. Winner of the City of Nyon Arts Prize in 2024, she presented the solo piece “Archéologie d’une danse fantôme” (Archeology of a ghost dance) at La Bâtie in 2025, in collaboration with Sophia Rodriguez.
Her work explores the notions of memory, co-dependence, permeability and transformation, creating a dialogue between contemporary ecologies and fantastical imaginaries. The dimension of the invisible, as well as the potential for pleasure, play and outburst, occupies a central place in her work. Through methods blending dance, performance and the visual arts, she examines the relationships between bodies, territories and environments.
She is currently exploring processes of sedimentation, stratification and erosion to explore the concepts of the “body-psyche” and contamination, as part of the Trouble-Trashy-Dreamy sensory laboratory.
Since 2026, she has been an artist-in-residence at LEAST (Laboratory for Ecology and the Arts for a Society in Transition). She is also a member of the “Collectif Bâclé” (Botched Collective) and co-creates the performative concert Dust Core with Jessica Tamsin Allemann.
